The crown chakra, or Sahasrasa, is the seventh and final of the major chakras. It is located at the crown of the head. It is considered the "Master Chakra" and represents the highest state of consciousness, the connection with the divine, the universe, and the higher self.
Its element is the cosmos, limitless space, and divine energy. It is associated with the colors violet or white, which symbolize spirituality, purity, and divine connection. It is represented as a lotus flower with a thousand petals. The word Sahasrasa means "of a thousand petals." Its mantra is "aum." Its sound frequency is 963 Hz.
It is not associated with a specific physical organ, but it is related to the central nervous system and the pineal gland.
This chakra is the point where the physical meets the spiritual, and divine energy enters the body. When balanced, the crown chakra fosters a strong spiritual connection to your purpose, spirituality, and a sense of belonging to a whole—that all beings are interconnected and everything is one. It facilitates mental clarity and intuitive knowledge, deep understanding, and clear perception beyond the ego, leading to inner peace derived from understanding your place in the universe.
An imbalance or blockage of the crown chakra can manifest as feelings of spiritual disconnection, lack of purpose, depression, mental confusion, and emotional isolation. The person may feel apathetic or stuck. If the chakra is overactive, it expresses as a disconnection from reality and an inflated sense of ego. The person may feel spiritually superior or constantly seek enlightenment without a foundation.
The third eye chakra, or Ajna, is the sixth chakra. It is located on the forehead, slightly above and between the eyebrows. It is the energy center of intuition, thought, perception, wisdom, and clairvoyance.
It is associated with the element of light, the color indigo blue, the mantra "om," and its sound frequency is 852 Hz. On the physical plane, it is related to the pineal gland, a small gland in the brain that regulates circadian rhythms.
This chakra connects us to the energy that allows for deeper vision, going beyond what the physical eyes can see. When balanced, it fosters intuition and clarity, providing a strong connection to your inner guidance, allowing you to perceive deeper truths and make wise decisions. It is the source of imagination, dreams, and creative visualization. It promotes a deeper understanding of feelings and emotional intelligence.
An imbalance in the third eye chakra can cause confusion, lack of clarity, a feeling disconnected from intuition, and a sense of being stuck in a rut. It can also manifest as headaches and vision problems. If this chakra is overactive, it can lead to a disconnection from reality, living in fantasy, and difficulty grounding thoughts.
The throat chakra, or Vishuddha, is the fifth chakra and is located in the throat. It represents the driving force of communication, self-expression, verbal creativity, transcendence, and purification. It helps us fulfill our role in society by achieving our goals, objectives, and purpose.
It is associated with sound, the element ether, the color turquoise, and the mantra "ham." Its sound frequency is 741 Hz. Its vibration is associated with the power of healing. Physically, it is connected to the throat, neck, jaw, and teeth.
A balanced Vishuddha allows for the activation of energy for writing, singing, speaking, honest communication, and active listening.
However, a blockage can cause communication problems with others, fear of expressing ourselves for fear of conflict, tension, and a lack of authenticity.
The heart chakra, or Aahata, is the fourth major chakra, located in the center of the chest. It is associated with feelings of love for others, openness to life, compassion, forgiveness, empathy, harmony, friendship, romantic love, familial love, self-love, and self-awareness.
It is the point of connection and balance between the physical and spiritual worlds.
It is associated with the element of air, the color green, the mantra "yam," and its sound frequency is 639 Hz. Physically, it is connected to the respiratory system and the thymus gland.
Its balance promotes harmony, inner peace, self-acceptance, joy, emotional equilibrium, and the ability to give and receive without expectations.
Conversely, if it is blocked, it manifests as loneliness, resentment, difficulty trusting or expressing love, and can cause physical problems such as chest tightness or shallow breathing. It can also contribute to heart or coronary disease. Emotionally, it's difficult to form healthy relationships and feel free to open up to the outside world.
The solar plexus chakra, known as Manipura, is the third chakra, located in the upper abdomen, between the navel and the pit of the stomach. It symbolizes personal power, willpower, self-esteem, the ability to take action, assertiveness, self-confidence, decision-making, risk-taking, setting boundaries, manifesting goals, and the will to succeed.
It is associated with the element of fire, the color yellow, and the mantra "ram." Its sound frequency is 528 Hz. Physically, it is related to our digestive system.
A balanced Manipura chakra translates into confidence, self-esteem, power, and determination. It manifests as a greater capacity for making clear decisions, moving forward with purpose, good digestion, and emotional control.
A blockage, on the other hand, can manifest as fear, insecurity, digestive problems, ulcers, heartburn, stomach pain, and chronic fatigue. Emotionally, one may feel inferior to others, insecure, lack confidence, and be dissatisfied with oneself. If the solar plexus chakra is overactive, it indicates an excess of ego and stress.
The sacral chakra, also known as Svadhisthana, is the second of the seven main chakras and is located in the pelvic and abdominal region, below the navel. It is associated with emotions, creativity, sexuality, passion, and the enjoyment of life.
This chakra is identified with the element of water (the flow of life), the color orange, and the mantra "vam." Its sound frequency is 417 Hz. Physically, it is related to our hips, genitals, reproductive system, kidneys, and bladder.
A balanced sacral chakra manifests as joy, spontaneity, a zest for life, and a healthy connection with the body and pleasure. It promotes emotional and sensory fluidity, confidence, and creativity, expressing a fulfilling and guilt-free sexuality.
An imbalance, on the other hand, can manifest as creative blocks, anxiety, manipulation, relationship problems, feelings of self-loathing or repression, excess, and addictions.
The root chakra, or Muladhara, is the first energy center, located at the base of the spine. It is associated with the element of earth, connecting us to the earthly and physical realms, symbolizing our connection to the ground that sustains us and the elements that nourish us.
It governs our basic survival needs, such as security, food, and shelter. It is the first manifestation of life force on the physical plane and provides us with the energy to live and survive. It is the starting point for the body's ascending energies, such as Kundalini energy, which propels the body and mind.
This chakra is associated with the color red and the mantra "Lam." Its sound frequency is 396 Hz. Physically, it is related to our intestines, legs, feet, and the base of the spine.
A balanced root chakra provides stability, confidence, and a deep connection to physical reality. An imbalance, on the other hand, can manifest as a sense of rootlessness, guilt, fear of facing life, anxiety, a constant struggle for security, distraction, and difficulty concentrating.
